SRI LANKAN RELIEF FUND 2019

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Jay and I was born in Sri Lanka and moved to the US when I was 10 years old.  I currently live in Los Angeles. Hearing about the bombings in Sri Lanka was heartbreaking.  It is time we come together as human beings to lift up one another and live through the aftermath of this horrible event. I see an increasing amount of fundraisers happening and I wanted to do my part to support my community.

Although there is free healthcare in Sri Lanka for the injured people, I️ was thinking about post-ER care. Many people that have been affected by the bombing  will still need tremendous aid and support. They will  need to rebuild and transition from this tragedy. They will need necessities such as wheelchairs, crutches, prosthetics, and countless amounts of day-to-day items.

There are also numerous children that have lost either one or both of their parents. Having lost my father at a young age, I could not imagine how it would have been to lose both of my parents at the same time. I️ know there will be family members that strive to take care of these children, but it will still be a huge responsibility for them. I want to do my part to provide some relief for basic things like food, supplemental aid, medical assistance, restructuring relief, and educational fees that they might have a difficult time paying for. Thank you so much for donating.

P.S. I WILL UPDATE EVERYONE THAT DONATES MONEY ON WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING AND WHAT IT WILL BE SPENT ON!

UPDATE 4/24/2019

Dear Donors,

First and foremost, thank you for educating yourself on the unfortunate massacre that happened in Sri Lanka this past Easter Sunday. I/We truly appreciate you reaching out to get more involved in spreading the word and helping us match or exceed our fundraising goals. The effects of this devastating incident will have long lasting impacts on our nation and its people -- we willingly accept every bit of help over the next few months and years to come.

The organizers are in the process of evaluating and finalizing exactly where each dollar donated will be allocated. Before any penny is donated, we inform all donors in order to provide complete transparency. Our main priority is ensuring that each dollar donated is received only by those who truly need the aid and not to be misused in any capacity.

Additionally, Sri Lanka is currently in a state of emergency. Once the chaos and uncertainty subside, we will work tirelessly to find families directly impacted by the recent bombings so that donations are put towards medical treatments, prosthetics, wheelchairs, and more.

In the meantime, we strongly urge the community at-large both in Sri Lanka and abroad to respect each and everyone during our time of mourning and sadness. Please continue to join us in spreading the message of unity and peace.

I can sincerely speak for the entire Sri Lankan community in thanking you, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking the time to help us heal and move forward.

Best Regards,
Jay & The ENTIRE United We Stand Team
