Hey everybody! My name is Dave Chadwick, but I go by Sugar Ray Dodge around the internet. You may know me from my graphic novel series Mystery Science Storybook, but today I am asking for your support for something else entirely.
I have been a fan of professional wrestling for a very, very long time. Like most fans, the ultimate dream is to step into the ring and competing yourself, but most of us never even try. I spent ten years in the US Army starting at age 19, deployed to Iraq twice, and when I got out in 2010 at age 29, I was convinced I was too old to get into the business. I had originally planned to get try to break in at age 22 at the end of my first enlistment in 2003, but I felt I couldn't leave the Army during a time of war without actually going to the war myself. But I've constantly made the "too old" excuse for way too long, so I have decided that at age 37, I am going to start my career in pro wrestling.
But pursuing this goal will not be easy or cheap. The initial goal is to be able to pay for training completely up front. I will also need ring gear, gimmick props, money for travel and promotion, entrance music and so on. I will also need money to eat and pay bills while I train and perform until I can rely on bookings to cover all my expenses. That is basically what this campaign is for, to help get me started and stay reasonably comfortable as I pursue this.
I hope you can support me in achieving this life long dream! Life is too short not to reach for the brass ring, as some guy famous once said, I forget who...
