Sprint to the Stage

Donation protected
The makers of Sprint need your help raising $5,000  to produce a series of short films that will accompany a live performance for the Summer 2018 National Queer Arts Festival!

What's Sprint?
Sprint tells the coming of age story of Nana Dankwa, a queer black child of Ghanaian immigrants, coming up in the U.S. in the 90’s and 2000’s. Based off an original screenplay and collection of written works by Oakland-based writer and performer, Nana Duffuor, Sprint explores Nana’s experiences of anti-blackness and self-denial, sexual violence and self-destruction, healing and resistance with candid humor and vulnerability.

Learn more about Sprint and view the film teaser here.

Now, Nana has teamed up with powerhouse artist and activist, Indigo Mateo, to bring Sprint to life, pairing Indigo’s original music with the screenplay and works from Nana's written collection. The two can’t wait to bring this story to the festival stage, blending film, theater, poetry, music, and dance!

What would you do for the flick?
We've formed a powerful team of  filmmakers to produce a series of short films to be woven into the live production. The films also serve as an opportunity to showcase the talents of no less than five different women of color directors and editors. Your donation will help to cover compensation for these incredible artists and cost of production for the films.

A Sneak Preview!
Every person who donates will be invited to attend a private screening leading up to the Festival in June 2018. (There will be an online screening for the out-of-town folks as well).

Can’t Donate Today?
That's ok! You can still show Sprint some love by sharing the Sprint to the Stage campaign via social media and with those near and dear to you who will want to see this powerful story come to life.

You the Real MVP's!
Sprint has made it this far thanks to the generosity, support, and power of our community. Thank you for all you've done to give this project wings. We look forward to bringing it to you at the festival in June and, soon enough, on the big screen!

With love and appreciation,

Nana Duffuor, Indigo Mateo, and our growing Sprint Team.
