Our Story
In August 2013, the London Musicians’ Association started the Springbank Gardens Concert Series at the Guy Lombardo Pavilion on Sunday afternoons.The Springbank Gardens location is an important part of the city’s music history and where Londoners danced to live music under the lights that used to be Wonderland Gardens.
This Summer Concert Series featuring exceptional local musicians, has grown in number and popularity. When the program began in 2013, there were only four concerts presented with each performance attended by approximately 100 people. In 2017, 12 concerts were held on Sundays drew 400+ people each week July through September. Every summer people ask us to add more concerts to the schedule. We truly appreciate the positive response from Londoners.
The London Musicians’ Association with additional funding from the London Arts Council, the City of London Parks & Recreation, and the Music Performance Fund, has been pleased to provide free concerts and an accessible summer destination for all Londoners, especially our seniors’ community and their families.
The staff at the City of London Parks & Recreation and the London Arts Council have provided invaluable support for the series over the last 5 years. In 2017, Parks & Recreation attached additional awnings onto the pavilion to provide shade to 100+ more audience members.
Unfortunately this year the London Arts Council received an overwhelming number of grant applications. Consequently, the LAC jury made the difficult decision to cut the Springbank Concerts funding in half. This means that we now are faced with reducing the 2018 concert schedule from 13 weeks to just 6 weeks.
To maintain the full schedule, The London Musicians’ Association needs your help to recover the $4000 loss in co-funding, so the popular Springbank Gardens Concert Series will be available to Londoners for the entire summer of 2018.
Please know, even if we don't hit or target - all money raised here will be used exclusively to hire musicians to perform for the Concert Series to prolong it.
