Sponsored Walk for Archie’s Anaemia

Donation protected
Our Walk:

On Thursday 19th July, a small group of 9 young people from the National Citizens Service Programme will be completing a walk in order to raise money for Archie’s Anaemia.

As part of the 4-week programme, the participants have to complete 60 hours of charity work or completing events aiming to give back to the community.

Our walk will start at Dereham Library and we will be walking around the outskirts of Dereham town through Scarning, Moorgate, Sandy Lane and Northgate High School in order to raise money and awareness of Archie’s rare blood disorder. We will be carrying a donation box, and wristbands that we will be selling for £1, on behalf of the charity.

We will be walking in red clothing to raise awareness of the blood disorder, and others suffering with it and different blood disorders. If you wish to support us as we leave the Library at 10:30am on Thursday 19th July, it would be wonderful if you too, could wear red!

We aim to stop for lunch after completing the route, however following our lunch break, we hope to complete the walk again.

The money raised will go towards Pre and Post – Operation care to support Archie and his close family.

About Archie:

In October 2010 he was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of Anaemia, known as Congenital Sideroblastic Anaemia. Since this time he has undergone extensive treatment to ascertain the exact cause behind his illness. He receives regular blood transfusions to stay alive.

Sideroblastic anaemia or Sideroachrestic Anaemia is a disease in which the bone marrow produces ringed sideroblasts rather than healthy red blood cells (erythrocytes).
