Sponsored "Switch-Off" for Violet

Donation protected
One 12 year-old. Seven days. No screens.

Hi, I'm Neve - I'm 12 years old, I'm originally from the UK, but moved to the US in 2012. The picture above is Violet, my primary school friend from Sale in the UK - we were in the same class together at Springfield Primary School until I moved to California.

I found out this week that Violet has been diagnosed with a serious spinal condition (adolescent idiopathic scoliosis), where her spine is curved at 80˚. Apparently it's really painful and will soon cause her difficulty in breathing as it pushes against her lungs. Her family is trying to raise £60,000 for special corrective surgery (vertebral body tethering) in October that will give Violet the best chance of correcting the curve while still letting her spine grow flexibly over time, like mine will.

Her story in the Manchester Evening News

I really want to help out and raise 1% of what she needs for this: £600 ($765). I wanted to do something challenging, so I'm going to be switching off all devices and screens at home for 7 full days. No phones, TVs, iPads, video games or computers. For seven days! I'll be starting at 8pm on Friday September 7th, finishing at 8pm on Friday September 14th.

If you would like to sponsor me, and help me help my friend Violet, I'm accepting donations from both the UK and the US via the yellow 'Donate Now' button on this page. I'm also collecting cash donations in person, if that's easier for some people - let me know!

My Mum, Dad & little sister reckon I can't do this, so I'm looking forward to proving them wrong! ;)

Thank you everyone,

Neve xxx
