Sponsor Me To Help Out Mickey!

I'm asking people to sponsor me to give up the booze in order to raise money for an old friend and comrade Mickey Morran, a guy who's left a lasting impression on everyone i know who's met him.

Last month i heard the news that Mickey has cancer, it came as  a big shock because the last I heard he'd moved back to Ireland with his young family and all was good. A GoFundMe page had already been set up and has seen a fantastic amount of donations. I felt bad that I couldnt donate a lot so went about thinking how i could raise some more myself.... having no particular skills, and being too unfit to run a marathon, i decided that a good challenge would be to give up the booze, as i have been at various levels of inebriation or terribly hungover for the last 20 years or so. The idea is this will give my body a well earned break whilst doing some good for Mickey and his family.

I started 2 weeks ago just to see if it was doable, and it seems to be going ok so i'm going to continue the dry spell for a few months, every £75 I raise I'll have a month without booze. Any amount you can donate is a help, even if you just want to buy me a pints worth of sponsorship on here, that would be really appreciated!

Below is a write up made of bits taken from the main fundraising page which describes the situation better than I ever could.
                                  ******************************
Mick dedicated father of two small children, Séamus (2) and Aoibhinn (6 months), who he raises with love of his life, since the age of 17, Fiona.

To many in London Mick is known as the bassist and guitar player of numerous hardcore and punk bands. Mick is avid martial artist who enjoyed MMA, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu and boxing. He is a die-hard Celtic fan.

At the age of 35 Mick was shocked with the diagnosis of metastatic testicular cancer that has spread to his lungs. He had no prior symptoms, was working hard and taking care of his children as normal, then out of the blue began to cough up blood. He is a young healthy, vegetarian, who never smoked and very occasionally drank since the arrival of little Seamus. Mick is unable to work in his condition, he is back with his family in Athlone, Ireland, spending most of his time in the hospital. He has finished his fourth round of chemotherapy, is upbeat and fighting hard to survive.

We are looking to raise the money to help support Mick and provide resources to help his family make it through this hardship. His sick pay from work is due to run out soon, even in the best circumstances he wouldnt be back at work for another 12 months.

Thanks for taking the time to read this far....any donation no matter how small is greatfully received.

Cheers
