Kevin Dano. Where do I start? As a lot of you know, I work closely with East Syracuse Chevrolet and Kevin is my point guard for insurance there, along with a few other hats he wears for the dealership. Kevin is an extraordinary human being. Full of fun/USELESS facts (jk Kev), silly anecdotes/puns and of course he plays the bag pipes. You may have seen him at Coleman's before or any of the multiple parades, festivals, bars in CNY wearing his kilt and crushing the bag pipes! Also, I've never seen a grown man absolutely ADORE his dogs more than him. It's borderline obsessive. Now on to the less fun part...his diagnosis. Well I'm going to go ahead and quote his FB post when he let everyone know. Kevin is literally the only person I know capable of making a bit of fun with a very serious situation...then you'll also get the title and group name of this campaign...

I have a zebra. I’ve named it Terrence. Terrence has grown. I can feel Terrence’s presence every time I eat or use the restroom . Terrence makes me feel bad. I have had Terrence for quite some time, apparently. One could argue Terrence is a part of me or maybe even made of me. Terrence likes to hide. Terrence is an axxxhole. I’ve hired a man to kill Terrence with cold surgical steel. Terrence is very real and a malignant little fxxxer. Terrence is the neuroendocrine tumor (NET) on my pancreas. There is a saying in medical school, “when you hear hoof beats think horses, not zebras.” Usually the most apparent diagnosis is correct and the more exotic ones are far flung red herrings. Usually NETs go unnoticed or, in some cases, like Steve Jobs, treated improperly. In the US there are only about 200,000 cases of NETs per year. From all the testing and scans and blood drawn we have learned my NET is curable with surgery. The surgeon has said my body should be cancer free after a long period of recovery. I hate my zebra. Nasty Evil Terrence. "
Kevin will be out of work for minimum 2 months and will be forced to live a completely different lifestyle. As we all know, medical insurance only covers so much and he still has to pay his bills. We've had a TON of laughs in my year plus working with him and the excitement in his eyes with being able to make cancer jokes was a bit disturbing but still made me chuckle. BUT lets stay focused and help my man recover without the extra stress of paying mortgage, truck payment, insurances, cell, utilities, groceries, and of course HIS BELOVED ANIMALS food, vet, etc! Except the stupid Zebra...That can die.
