Building a community Heartbeat

After a visit to Nigeria and witnessing the vast poverty of people living in slums, the founder of Sow a Seed International had a conviction that he had to make a change to the social welfare of the people that lived there.

Sow a Seed international is a good will - philanthropic organisation actively striving to provide the basic human needs for people struggling in the developing world.

We believe that every individual has the right to the fundamentals of life and that in order to achieve their full potential these should be supported.

Our work assists local communities to begin to thrive, by providing sustainable feeding programmes, basic clothing, assistance with educational programmes, funding, resources and supporting orphans to ensure every child feels a sense of love and hope.

The majority of our work is together with communities experiencing extreme deprivation and poverty.

We want to put hope in each childs heart,... let's do it together!

Our first out reach programme will be taking place in Lagos, Nigeria in December 2017 over the festive period. We are aiming to make Christmas a special time for the communities we serve. We plan to have the opening of a bore hole, to provide access to a clean water supply should funding permit us and also a range of Christmas activities for the children within the community. The objective of the bore hole is to lessen the use of disease carrying water, locals are repeatedly sick from typhoid, and dysentery.

The water pipe and bore hole will supply the communities of Tolly and Issac Ikomo.

Ogudu is in the north eastern region of Lagos and is part of the Kosofe local government.

Tolly and Issac okomo are both areas in Ogudu, which contain some of the highest levels of deprivation in Nigeria.

The poor in these areas live in settlements known as slums where extreme overcrowding is normal.

These areas are also plagued by issues from lack of drainage systems - open sewage flows through the streets in some areas, to dilapidated roads which have been neglected and fallen into disrepair.

A crumbling infrastructure and the lack of basic amenities has meant these residents have no sense of being of value and are marginalised.

A significant proportion of residents are unemployed or homeless.

Sow a seed international was started because we know that what may be a seed to us in the developed world would be received and have the impact of a mango tree in the developing world. We would like to realise our vision with the help of Go fund me. We also wish to donate resources that are in great need in Lagos including; new and used clothing, accessories, toys, toiletries, stationary and any other goods that we can donate to the slums of Nigeria. These will form part of the Christmas gifts which children in this area have never experienced before.
