ABOUT US
Southern African Community USA (SACU) is a nonprofit, 501 (c) 3 organization registered in the state of Maryland. Our mission  is to unite all citizens, descendants and friends of Southern Africa in the USA through various activities and events, and to increase the visibility of Southern Africans in the USA whilst contributing to the overall development of the Southern African community. Our organization represents the 15 SADC/Southern African Countries: Angola, Botswana, Congo-DRC, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa Swaziland, Tanzania,  Zambia and Zimbabwe. We are a GoFundme certified charity so your donation is tax deductible (You will get your tax deductible receipt automatically via email when you donate to our organization)

 

The Picnic-Reunion
Every year SACU organizes a reunion weekend with various activities relevant to southern africa. Our signature event has been our free community picnic which celebrates 15 Southern African countries and cultures. The event is attended by over 150 citizens of those countries and friends of Southern Africa. Everyone is always welcome. The Picnic or "Braai" as it's popularly known in Southern Africa, is one of the most anticipated yearly SACU events. Every year, the community looks forward to gathering and mingling with everyone, as they listen and dance to music from Southern Africa, play sports with other Southern African country-teams, eat food from their respective countries and meet new people. Good personal relations and business connections are forged at SACU gatherings!

To ensure the survival of this free community event, we are asking you to kindly make a generous contribution towards our next SACU Picnic and related events. No amount is too small or too large. In appreciation for your generosity, you will get the following:

- All donations are tax deductible. We are a GoFundme certified charity so you get your tax deductible receipt automatically via email when you donate to our cause.

- A donation of US$10 or more will get you entered in to a drawing to win free entrance to one of our special events.

- A donation of US$20 or more will get you a free one year basic SACU membership (membership info is on our website).
