Southeast Asia Mission Trip 2017

Hey friends, family, and supporters!

Please take a moment to let me share my plans with you for the upcoming summer and invite you to be a part of the work God is doing through the Navigators (an inter-denominational collegiate ministry) in Southeast Asia.

What I'll be doing -
At the beginning of June, myself and a team of 11 other Navigators will be heading to Southeast Asia to work with a team of long term missionaries who have been serving in the area for several years. We will be spending the majority of our time working at an English school that is currently run by the long term missionaries in the area.  At this school, we will have the opportunity to teach English to a variety of high school and college aged men and women.  Through our work at the school, we will be able to form relationships with a variety of young adults as we serve as English conversation partners and teach the students about the English language through casual interaction. Our hope is to ultimately use these relationships to not only help students learn English but to also teach them about our faith and the truth of the Gospel as we simultaneously learn about their culture and form friendships with individual students. Overall, my team and I will be focusing the majority of our efforts and energy on relational evangelism as we form friendships and engage in conversations with the students.

Why Southeast Asia? -
With many nations in the region having less than 10% of their citizens identify as Christians, laborers and missionaries are greatly needed throughout Southeast Asia. After spending my fall semester discerning how I would spend my upcoming summer, I have decided to respond to this need for laborers and devote my summer to spreading the Gospel to the unreached peoples of Southeast Asia. For many years, the Navigators have been organizing teams of college students like me to spend a summer serving and spreading the Gospel to the people of Southeast Asia. After speaking with several friends and mentors who have been on this trip previously, I am confident that spending my summer investing in forming relationships with the students of this English school will be a meaningful and effective way to spread the Gospel to the unreached men and women of Southeast Asia.

As some of you may know, I am currently in the process of discerning whether or not I will enter full time ministry with the Navigators following my graduation from Vanderbilt University. I feel that this mission trip would go a long way in helping me reach a resolution in my discernment process as this trip would allow me to engage in and experience international ministry for the first time in my life. Should I feel called to pursue full time ministry after graduation, I am confident that this mission trip would be immensely impactful in preparing me to confidently and effectively lead future international mission trips. All in all, this missions opportunity would not only be an excellent way to spread the Love of God to the unreached in Southeast Asia, but it would also serve as an important step in my personal discernment of a potential future in vocational ministry.

How You Can Help!
As I prepare to embark on my trip this summer, I would love to invite you to participate in spreading the Gospel to Southeast Asia by agreeing to partner with me in one of three ways.

1. Pray
I would like to invite you to support me by joining my prayer team! I am in great need of a strong support system of men and women who will diligently pray for me, my team, the long term missionaries, and the students we will be working with. Over the course of the 6 week trip, I will be sending out weekly updates to keep my supporters up to speed on prayer requests and inform everyone of the awesome ways that God has been using us to impact the lives of the men and women in Southeast Asia. By joining my prayer team, you would play an invaluable role in helping my team and I spread the Gospel to Southeast Asia.

2. Spread the word
I would like to invite you to share this page with any friends or family that you think would be interested in learning about my trip and potentially supporting me! I will need a large community of Christ followers supporting me in order to make this trip possible and ultimately successful. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share this page on your social media and please let all of your friends and family know about this awesome opportunity to support my team and me as we work to advance the Kingdom of God in Southeast Asia.

3. Give
I would like to invite you to support me by partnering with me financially! The costs of this trip will be extensive and, without the financial support of others, I will not be able to reasonably afford it. If you are interested in partnering with me financially, I would encourage you to pray over an amount you would like to commit to stewarding towards the advancement of God's kingdom in Southeast Asia. The cumulative costs of the trip will be $4,900 (these funds will be used to cover my airfare, lodging, meals, and travel insurance).

There are two different ways to financially support this trip, both of which would be greatly appreciated! By supporting me financially, you would play a signficant role in ensuring that I have the opportunity to participate in this trip and carry out God's command to go forth and make disciples of all nations!

Consistent Giving: Some of you might feel called to set aside a portion of your weekly/monthly tithe to contribute periodically towards my trip over the course of the next few months (ex: stewarding 10-20% of your monthly tithe toward this trip).

One-Time Gift: Some  of you might find it easier to give a one-time donation of any amount (recommended levels include $25, $50, $100, or $200 dollars).

Payment Options
