South West Pentathletes Laser Fund
Donation protected
Pentathlon GB South West is trying to raise funds for a mobile kit of Laser Pistols & targets for use by Pentathletes in the South West.
Pentathlon GB South West is a voluntary organisation that exists to promote the sport to people across the South West and provide support to help them train and take part in our activities. The only funding we receive is from competitions that we run in the South West, however only one competition each year generates a surplus enabling us to run other competitions. If any money remains we try to finance kit for use by athletes at group activities who either cannot afford their own equipment, or who want to try the sport before purchasing their own.
Modern Pentathlon involves five different disciplines, (swimming, running, shooting, fencing & horse riding). Athletes can start the sport with just two disciplines, (e.g. Biathle/Biathlon – Swim & Run; Laser Run – Shoot & Run), and then develop towards all five (if they so wish) by adding other disciplines.
The move from air pistol to laser pistol shooting was completed with effect from 1 January 2017, meaning all competitions must now use Laser Pistols and targets. In addition a new competition has been introduced called Laser Run which can lead to representing GB at a World Championships. These two recent changes mean the region does not have sufficient Laser kit in the South West to support our athletes in the early stages. We are therefore trying to raise £8,000 to purchase Laser Pistols & Targets that can be used at competitions, training events and taster sessions, for the benefit of athletes and others in the South West.
An increasing number of people in the South West of all ages, who are either athletes or people wanting to try the new activity of Laser Run, and we would be grateful for your support. Although we have been able to purchase some Laser Pistols some more are needed, so if you can help to fund this kit you will allow us to support them in a better way.
