Sophie's Battle Against CRPS

Hi! My name is Stacey Phillips, and my daughter Sophie, is a vibrant eighteen-year-old girl fighting to get her life back from a progressive and crippling illness called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). This debilitating and life altering condition of the sympathetic nervous system is rated the MOST PAINFUL condition known to man; more than non-terminal cancer, childbirth and amputation. THERE IS NO CURE. Sophie’s condition is extremely progressive, as it has spread full body and into her organs, causing her to also develop other chronic illnesses which she now needs to receive treatment for.
For those of you who know Sophie, you know that in her short life, she has touched and inspired thousands through her many talents of singing, acting, and motivational speaking as well as her work with the American Heart Association. She is the kindest, most selfless, compassionate, genuine and giving person, who deserves to live a life free of excruciating pain and suffering. As a mother, it is heart wrenching to see your own child suffer in such unbearable pain and feel completely helpless to make her better.
We recently lost my husband, and Sophie’s father, unexpectedly, leaving us with one less income. She is currently receiving high-dose ketamine infusions, which are done in rounds of up to 2 weeks at a time (similar to the process of chemotherapy). These infusions place her in a dissociative coma-like state in order to reset her nervous system, and it takes a large toll on her body. Between the costs of these life-saving treatments, daily compounded medications (over $500 a month), multiple hospitalizations, travel expenses, my loss of income (as I don’t have any paid time off to take her for treatments), and past costs that are still building from intensive rehabilitation, Sophie’s medical expenses are more than we can financially afford.
