We are making a feature documentary about Ryan Anthony, a world renowned trumpeter with a rare type of terminal cancer who may only have a few more months to live.  After his initial diagnosis 7 years ago and given only 2-3 years to live, he kept playing the trumpet and continued to beat all expectations for his survival thanks in part to his passion and love for music that kept him going. But now he is running out of time. Yet still continues to schedule more concerts. We need money to get to Memphis and Dallas to capture what might be some of his final performances. Camera, audio and lighting gear has been donated and a crew of 5 is putting up their time to make this happen. We're asking for $30,000 of seed money to keep this documentary going, but most importantly we desperately need help funding this first leg of traveling and lodging expenses. Time is of the essence.

Art Saves Lives

A Song For Hope is about the power art has on our lives. It's about how it can motivate us, inspire us, and transcend the barriers of language, culture, and time. A Song For Hope is about how important it is to keep art alive and bring it into our communities and share it in all it's forms.

We want to make a feature documentary that tells the story of a world renowned trumpeter Ryan Anthony, who is proving to the world that art is essential for survival by using music to inspire hope in others while battling his own terminal cancer. He's using music to help save others from the struggles he's endured and still faces ahead of him.
After being diagnosed, he started The Ryan Anthony Foundation 501(c)(3)/CancerBlowsTM, that has been collecting funds for research and raising more awareness for cancer. We are helping Ryan, the patients, the researchers, the doctors, the nurses, and all their families in the fight against cancer, by telling his story and the story of his art.

Why we need your help

Ryan was diagnosed with terminal cancer 7 years ago, he has been fighting and defeating the odds that everybody predicted ever since. But 2 months ago, he was told he may only have 6 months to live. Time is of the essence here, which is why we are reaching out to you to help us get this story to life and share his art with the world. Next week Ryan has an incredibly important performance in Memphis. A city where he met his wife, started his family and it is where he has recorded some of his solo work. We need your help to be able to be there with Ryan and capture his performance as well as his memories created in this city.  We need funds to be able to rent equipment, travel and stay in Memphis for a few days. Your donation is what we need to get this project started. Memphis is just the first part of this feature project, but it is essential for us to be there to be able to capture the moments as well to raise more funds and sponsors with the footage we'll get.

What will your donation do

We are almost halfway there, we have secured most of our camera equipment and G&E equipment that is being donated to us. We have invested into initial marketing and logistics. We need your help to fund our stay in Memphis and our journey there from Los Angeles, where our team is based. This money will also help us pay for the lawyer who is essential to make sure that we have all the necessary rights and we can safely produce this film without any hiccups down the road. In short, your money gets this film started.

Ryan's story

7 years ago, Ryan was at the top of his game, performing as a soloist when a sharp pain shot through his side. After extensive testing he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (blood cancer) - his bone marrow was reading 80% cancer cells. Despite a crippling medical regime and ruthless schedule needed for treatments, he continued to play his music and could often be found suffering the after effects of chemo backstage moments before he was due to perform, but when it came time to entertain, Ryan Anthony walked onto that stage and played every note as if it was his last.
Music is not only Ryan’s outlet, it is his reason for being, his emotional voice and he has used it to inspire hope all over the world. Ryan and his family channeled the heartbreak, fear and trauma into their charity, “Cancer Blows”. The charity produces concerts featuring renowned instrumental musicians delivering the power of music, while raising awareness and the funds to find a cure. 10 years ago Multiple Myeloma was a death sentence carrying 3-5 years. Now in his sixth year with the disease Ryan Anthony has redefined the life expectancy and aims to do the same for others.
But, at the the beginning of this year, after tandem stem cell transplants, Ryan was told his cancer had aggressively returned and he had likely just 6 - 12 months to live. Now, determined to deliver possibly his last solo concerts of his life this Summer, will the eponymous hero be there to perform his Song of Hope and deliver his most powerful blow to cancer yet?

What's next?

Memphis is only a small beginning into the journey we are taking with Ryan. After that we will follow Ryan to his home in Dallas and be spending time with him and his family, as well as his doctors and nurses. He has more concerts and events planned that we want to capture. All leading up to Ryan's last possible solo performance. For this we will need more funds that we are gathering through investors and sponsors. If Ryan's story has touched you're heart and you are in a position to invest into this project, please get in touch with us at [email redacted].
