John W. Hurt, the only living son of legendary country blues singer Mississippi John Hurt, is asking for help. John is old, in his 80's, living in Minneapolis, Minnesota and suffering from late-stage prostate cancer.
John does not have much to live on. He is in public housing and his life is a struggle each month just to survive.
John doesn't have any help. He is completely on his own. He has managed this long but as weak as he is, he finally asked for help. In order for him to still get to places like church and the grocery store and to simply get outside to be a part of the world, he requires a mobility scooter.
Renting a scooter costs a minimum of $300 per month. For a short time this might be reasonable, but John needs one for a longer time period. He has picked out a scooter for himself but he has no money to buy it. It's the Swift Three Wheeled Personal Mobility from Supportplus.com. He wishes to have one in a "loud red" as he says, so that it's more visible to passing cars.
