First of all, THANK YOU for already being the most supportive community we could ever have asked for. You surround Solomon in prayer and love and support every day-- and we are beyond blessed!
Solomon was diagnosed with PACS1 a little over a year ago. It is a very rare disorder that exhibits itself in intellectual and developmental delays/disabilities. We have spent the better part of four years trying different therapies and discovering what works best for Solomon-- and we finally found it in the Anat Baniel Method . We have been taking him to see our therapist ("Sunny") for a year now and have seen amazing results in his physical and verbal abilities! His speech is beginning to emerge, and his therapist has suggested a new approach to encourage his speech development.
Sunny has recently become certified in listening therapy through The Listening Centre in Toronto, Canada-- to put it simply, it is similar to the Anat Baniel Method but specifically for speech. It teaches children to "listen" better to the world around them, to better process the auditory information they receive, so that they can then translate it back into speech. We are hoping to start Solomon on this therapy in May of this year. It will be 15 days of two 1-hour lessons each day, then a month break, and then another 15 days of lessons.
Anything that you can give towards this new therapy would be so incredibly helpful-- money, thoughts, prayers, encouragement, etc. Any donations over the goal amount will go towards continuing Solomon's therapy services. Though we can't know for certain, we are hoping this therapy will give Solomon the gift of learning how to speak clearly with us and with others in his life.
