Solar-Powered Clean Water
Please note that this GoFundMe goes directly to our on-going projects to help relieve the water scarcity in under-resourced Pakistani villages. Please contact our team at www.solarwaterproject.com for any queries.
What are you trying to do?
Provide a sustainable, maintenance-free and free supply of clean water to water-distressed communities.
1 pump = clean, safe water for 25 years for 2,500 people everyday!
This amounts to a staggering 3 million cups of clean water every year for just $6,000 dollars!
By installing solar-powered drilled water pumps; this is a new, unique and simple solution to a global problem.
Its revolutionary if you ask us!
Hmm, how does the pump work?
Well, see for yourself in this short 3-min documentary:
No need for extensive power supply infrastructure or any expensive equipment. We harbor the sun's energy to get clean water. Simple as that.

And we need you to play a part!
16 million people in Pakistan, and 780 million people worldwide still lack access to clean water (UNICEF 2016).
Water affects not just one's health, but one's entire way of life -- imagine parents making the difficult decision to send their kids to fetch water from wells miles away instead of sending them to school!
A farmer can work more produtively and with the comfort of knowing his hydration needs are fullfiled.
The organizers are all young professionals intent on making an impact on the world, and 100% of the proceeds go to clean water provision.

The world is a bit of a crazy place right now, and there are numerous very worthy and urgent causes that need your attention, PR, Myanmar & and the broader refugee crises to name just a few. I’ll be honest: i have always struggled with this question of “prioritisation or sympathies.” With so much going on, what most deserves our attention? Each one of us may have a different answer but personally, the most important thing for me is to keep consistently pushing forward on our water project for water often kills silently and while we’re looking the other way. It’s a cause that needs consistent reminding of its urgency. And it’s cause that’ll always remain life-changing.
Your 50 dollars will iA translate to 23,000 glasses of water in just 1 year.
Happy hump day.
Work on drilling is to begin tomorrow, followed shortly by the installation of the solar equipment.
It is my conviction that enabling safe and convenient access to clean water will not only fulfill this fundamental need, but will go on to affect lives in all the numerous facets that hydration and steady health underlie. This is to say that I expect an increase in economic yields as farmers spend more time tending to their stock and lands. More care-free classrooms when young students can focus on learning, unhindered by thirst. And many more reasons to come together and celebrate as the community gains a sense of self-confidence and takes ownership of their water supply. The benefits are limitless.
The BondheShams - Solar Powered Clean Water team intends to survey the community and measure these expected shifts in economic fortunes over the coming months.
I thank everyone who has, and continues to step forward to support us.
The video below shows a small Chasma from one of the mountainous towns in the Murree area. We have been surveying communities such as this one for the past couple of weeks and the team has been working diligently to lay the groundwork for the next successful solar water pump installation.
The pre-fixture checklist includes, amongst others, a number of logistical markers for instance, land availability near neighborhood centers, support from local leadership (to ensure a long-lasting, self-sustaining communal solution), feasibility of equipment transportation and groundwater testing to ensure a safe and clean supply of water.
In addition, we have been trying to get as many one-on-one sit downs with different members of the community to better understand their needs so that we can fine-tune our project plan accordingly.
InShaAllah, we will continue the work as people return from the holidays, and continue our fight against the global water crisis one solar-powered water pump at a time.
Hope everyone has wonderful Eid holidays :)
iA I will be suspending the campaign soon as we hit $5,500 (so this might be your last chance to be part of this innovative, clean water provision plan!).
The focus soon will be on implementing our vision. Stay tuned for more updates as the summer continues :)
P.S: here's what the drilling machine looks like
