Solar Hot Water for the village of Gatlang, Nepal

I have started this funding raising project in memory of a wonderful friend named Don Riedel. He was instrumental in helping another village in Nepal and I would like to continue his work and honor his legacy. My young friend Tenpi Nhima Tamang recently reached out for help in his village of Gatlang. Because of deforestation, it is getting harder for the members of this community to gather enough wood to stay warm and clean throughout the winter. We are going to raise enough money to buy 6 sets of big solar water heaters, transportation from city to village, the pipes, plumbing, water tanks and washing machines. Any extra money will be used to buy warm shoes and clothing for the children and elderly who at the present time are wearing flip flops in snow and freezing temperatures. This causes a lot of unnecessary illness. The Non-Profit Organization, Helping hands Health Education founded in 1992 will be in charge of the donations, overseeing the project to its completion and allowing your donation to be tax deductible.
Here is the story from Tenpi in his words:
When I was a young child, I lived a very harsh life along with my siblings in the village called Gatlang of Rasuwa district, until some of my friends and I went to India together for education. Now I am back in Nepal and I really want do something great with my sincere efforts to help enhancing the lifestyles of our people in this remote mountain region in Nepal as contributions to good developments.
But i stronly feels, unless some helping hands from the nooks and corners of the world are handed uniting with me, it seems still long way and full of difficulties on my own alone do so.
For now,my topmost dream to do something in the village and it's people is arranging community solar-hot-showers or gas-shower somehow since hygienic is the utmost essential for being healthy which is source of being happy and long living. And after finished of settling the shower stations at center places of village. Then,will be helping in educational things,environmental issues etc.
Such is the condition during the winter times...As it is situated on the extreme high mountain altitude...water is either frozen or ice-cold most times of year that people finds difficulties to stay clean...Some manages hot water by firewoods but its really very hard for daily life since the jungle is disappearing as result of reforestation which is terrible and real danger to the next generations for new born in the village afterwards...So by the means of arranging Solar Water heating hot-shower and washing mashines will prevent the sufferings and give relief to this remote region and it's residents.
Because of our village is situated on very high altitude sorrounded by huge mountains. And due to that the water gets iceold in the winter and all of us are forced to wear dirty clothes,difficult to wash face,clean legs,hands and take bath of the body. When people from outside comes they usually complains us about the our living in dirty and filthy. Its true that because of such horrible state,we are prone to oftenly sicked and ill. I been thinking lot for bringing the change of this bad condition coming up with arranging solar heating hot shower/gas shower and also washing machine will eradicate such panic situation and get rid of the sufferings with the people...
For now,i have no knowledge of the price for putting the Solar water heating shower. But I will definitely find it out soon and will let you know about it as soon as possible.
