Sofia Volkov is a 8 year old little girl who is absolutely stands up to her name - Wisdom. For the past year Sofia has fallen in love with rhythmic gymnastics. She loves this sport, she adores her coach and enjoys her team environment. Her coach and everyone who knows Sofia personally, see how serious she is about the sport and how quickly she is advancing.
Sofia takes her practices very seriously and if she can train all the time, she probably would. Beside her regular practices she spends at least 1-2 hours at home, going through her routines, moves, music and stretches. In addition, she is developing into an amazing, dedicated and disciplined girl.
However as she quickly advanced in her skill level, started to participate in the competitions which are requiring special uniforms, membership fees, I realized that my single mom with two kids budget would not allow me to afford this.
I was DEVASTATED, however leaving our little family without a food or very basic needs is not an option.
After crying and coming to terms with my emotions, I decided to sit down with her and tell her that she might not be able to continue her practices or compete in gymnastics. It was an emotional and sad conversation for a 7 year old, but she took it with an amazing grace. And 5 minutes later she said: “Mommy do you think we can sell something or come up with something to make a little bit of money so I can attend practices?” And I said: “Yes, we will find a way to make this work.”
I know that my future situation will change but at this point I would ask you - beautiful people to consider giving to Sofia’s gymnastics dream, to her love and dedication for the sport. And who knows maybe in the future she is the one to get a Gold Medal!
Monies received from this campaign will be used for her expenses as a growing gymnast!
The goal you see is a the cost for Sofia "the great" as we call her at home, to train currently, along with fees and uniforms for one year.
An annual breakdown:
- Current level practices (for a year) - $1,600
- Competition registrations and other fees ~ $400
- Uniforms and equipment ~ $300
