Support A Refugee Family From Syria

Donation protected
Hello, We recently met the Sheikos--a wonderful family of five from Aleppo. They've only been in the U.S. for four months, after fleeing war-torn Syria for Turkey and from there, on to Clarkston, Georgia. We've created this GoFundMe because they are in need of assistance in their new country. The good news is that if we all contribute a little, we can help them tremendously and help provide the stability they need in order to prosper here and have a good life. Thank you so much for reading about their story and considering a donation to them.

Their Story:

Yahia and Amina have three children--Aya (2 years old), Mohammed (10 years old), and a daughter with Cerebral Palsy and grave autism, Fatime (13 years old). They've come to the United States in order to get proper treatment and medicine for Fatime. As you can imagine, much of their day-to-day life surrounds helping and serving her many needs, as well as tending to their younger children. .

In Syria, Yahia worked at a shoe factory. Currently, he is interviewing for evening jobs, which will allow him to go with Amina to their daughter's doctor visits during the daytime. Aside from a job, their biggest need is reliable transportation. We are trying to help this family with their basic needs and in the meantime we have started this GoFundMe to help pay for a used reliable car.

Your donation will help fund:

A used car
$850/month rent and utility bills
Non-food kitchen and household items (dishwashing soap, detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, feminine products, diapers, couch)

English classes

*If you know of a good job opportunity for Yahia, please leave a comment and we will follow up with you.

About Us:

We are, Lauren Ragland and Dalida Bollig, and we are part of a group of friendship families supporting Yahia and Amina's family as their 'team coordinators' and as their friends. We are a part of community of volunteers who have connected with this refugee family to help them assimilate to life in the US. We are their village now. We are their family. Let's help them together. In the words of Clarkston Mayor Ted Terry "This isn't a charity thing, it's a rescue."
