The Village Life Center and Sneakerhead Youth Empowerment Center Partner to Donate Sneakers to Hurricane Harvey Victims in Houston

The Village Life Center, Texas and Sneakerhead Youth Empowerment Center have committed to donating 150 Pairs of shoes.

Houston, TX – September 8, 2017 – The Village Life Center (TVLC) and Sneakerhead Youth Empowerment (SHYE) have teamed up to donate shoes to victims of Hurricane Harvey. So far, the two organizations are prepared to donated 150 pairs of shoes to help people that lost all of their possessions in unprecedented flooding. Early estimates on the hurricane’s damage range from $30 to $160 billion.

In particular, the shoes will be given to local schools to benefit affected children. Since Harvey hit in the middle of back to school season, many kids are now completely unprepared for the school year.

“As soon as Harvey hit, we knew we had to do something to help the people of Houston,” said Ayanna Carr-Brown, the founder of TVLC. “While donating shoes is a small step, it will go a long way in the lives of these kids.”

“Ayanna and I are good friends, and we both deeply care about children, so it seemed natural for us to partner up to do our part,” said Ebony Ham, the founder of SHYEC.

Both TVLC and SHYEC want to donate even more shoes, but they need help from the general public. The groups are in touch with a second school with many kids that don’t have shoes to wear to class. If you’d like to donate to the cause, please visit the project’s GoFundMe page, where you can make a financial contribution.
