The SMILES Foundation

The SMILES Foundation was created as a memorial to the parents of Sergio, Crista and Diana Sciancalepore (CHS Graduates and Cranford Residents).  As teenagers they unexpectedly lost their father to a sudden and massive heart attack.  At the same time, at a young age, their mother was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease which she courageously fought until her death in 2013.  Both parents set sterling examples of perseverance, determination and a love of life.  By providing such guidance, they inspired their surrounding friends and family to overcome adversity - - and most importantly, to enjoy life!

 

This scholarship was created with these attributes in mind and will be awarded to the Cranford High School Senior who has overcome any of the following within their immediate family:  Chronic Illness, Disability, Loss of a Parent, or any significant hardship.
