Smalltalk Programming Competition

Donation protected
I've been a staunch advocate of the Smalltalk programming language  over the past four years. I believe it is one of the best-kept secrets in the IT industry. I would like to raise the language's public profile by conducting a Smalltalk programming competition in Canada.

The money I'm asking for will be used to fund the First, Second, and Third Prizes. These prizes will be college/university scholarships. A portion of the money will cover minor expenses involved in running the competition, such as advertising and mailing. There will be no personal profit.

The contest will be a team competition. Each team will consist of four high school students.  First Prize will be $6,000 (each team member will be awarded $1,500).

Second Prize will be $4,000 (each team member will be awarded $1,000). Third Prize will be $3,000 (each team member will be awarded $750).

About $3,000 are allocated for T-shirts to be distributed to the first 75 teams in the competition.

About $3,000 are needed for advertising and promotion. And $1,000 for miscellaneous expenses (including a deduction for GoFundMe).

The goal is to conduct the competition in early 2019.

Let's make this happen. Smalltalk programming is fabulous for improving productivity in the IT industry. It's fabulous for teaching young people how to program. And it's fabulous for hobbyists and recreational programming.
