"Small but Fierce"
Jordyn Small is our niece, she is a happy13 year old, the youngest of Sue and Mike Small's 4 children. She is a gifted student, active in World Cup Cheer, and getting ready to start 8th Grade at Toms River Intermediate North. Jordy was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, a grade 2 diffuse astrocytoma, and although it is slow growing, most doctors don't consider it benign. It has tentacles that can grow into brain tissue. She has already lost part of her vision.
Very soon she will begin chemotherapy in hopes of shrinking the tumor. Jordyn will have 8 cycles of chemo for as long as 18 months at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The first treatment will consist of IV treatments once a week for ten weeks, then an MRI to see if the tumor is shrinking and if it is, she will continue with chemo for about a year and a half, should it not work they will try another form of chemo and if that doesn't work, they will use radiation.
The Small's will definitely need financial support to help with out of pocket expenses which could reach astronomical levels; expenses associated with Jordyn's treatment, high copays, travel expenses, and the maintenance of their day to day family life. Jordyn's sister Courtney and brotherJared are in college and her sister Cassidy is a 16 year old Toms River High School North student.
We ask everyone to continue to pray for Jordyn's recovery and to donate financially what you can to help this family in their time of need, as they have done so many times for others.
