My name is Spencer Korey Duncan and I am eccstatic to be a Colorado National Delegate for Bernie Sanders this July at the Democratic National Convention in Philidelphia, PA. I am creating this gofundme page to add another element to broadening my fundraising outreach so i can offset the cost of this trip. In total I am looking to raise $1,500 between this gofundmepage, a silent auction, a drag show benefit, and a date auction happening in Mid June.
I am incredibly honored to be a delegate, as this is the first time I have ever caucused and taken part of this very interesting and thrilling process. It all started on March 1st when my partner and I went to Manuel High School in Denver, CO to join the caucus so Bernie could get our vote. That night I volunteered as a delegate I was elected as one out of three people to represent our precinct from six that had ran. From that night on I was hooked on being a part of the democratic party and process. I went on to the county convention and met with future DA's, House Representatives, and State Senators. From there I helped the Bernie Delegation from house District 8 fill every single seat for the Congressional District 1 and State Convention. I came in at 14th place for the CD1, which made me want to step up my game and fight for the At Large position, and low and behold after 500 tootsie pops, 1,000 postcards, and six volunteers later, I got a phone call the day after the state convention confirming my spot as a National Delegate for Bernie Sanders.
The state of Colorado had over 12,000 Bernie Sanders delegates after March 1st, and now I am proud to be one of the 41 representing the incredible state of Colorado.
The road to Philly is pretty thrilling, and is getting rather expensive. I have taken as many actions to keep the price of this trip as low as possible. I am staying with three other Bernie Delegates, flying coach (obviously), and looking to spend as much time with my fellow delegates as possible.
This money will help fund:
Flight Cost: $380 round trip to Philidephia from Denver
Hotel Accomodations: ~$870 for 6 nights at the Embassy Suites - The chosen hotel by the DNC.
Food: $50 a day for 7 days is $350
Fundraising Costs: $150 (printing, postage, packaging, venue rental)
Help recoup lost wages while being at the Democratic National Convention.
