Women in Harmony: On the Road 2018

Tax deductible
Women in Harmony is an established 60-voice women’s chorus in Portland, Maine. We are asking for your help to attend the Sister Singers Network National Women’s Choral Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan, June 27 - July 1, 2018. The Sister Singers Network is a cooperative web of feminist choruses and ensembles, composers, arrangers, and individual singers working together to support and enrich the women’s choral movement. We attended the festival in 2014 and brought back a treasure trove of new music to perform for our audiences and ideas for us as an organization. A special feature of our performance at the 2018 festival will be the national premier of “Look Out”(poetry by Wendell Berry), a wonderful new work by Joan Szymko that we commissioned for our 25th anniversary concert this coming May. We can't wait to introduce it to the Sister Singers community this summer! We need your support to get to the festival. Thank you for your generosity!

Women in Harmony has been singing for social justice for 25 years now. And we have a lot of fun together! We are a diverse group of women -- gay and straight, musically sophisticated and musically untrained -- who unite in song and a spirit of fairness. We are a community of women that advocates for the betterment of women and for peace in the world. And we have a lot of fun! Our music is culturally and stylistically varied, daring, and full of life. Some of our songs are angry, some are funny, some serene -- but every one of them conveys the importance of connection and community.
