The Historic Anna Maria City Pier was dealt a mortal blow when Hurricane Irma pounded the island in September 2017.

The Pier celebrated its 100th Birthday in May of 2011, when "The Anna Maria Island Preservation Trust, Inc." presented the City with a State of Florida Historic Marker.

This marker details the significance of the Pier since it was built in 1911, to the development and settlement of the island before the first bridge was built, by ferrying people from Tampa, St. Petersburg and other settlements on theTampa Bay.

Those of us who live and work here, and the visitors who come to the Island, will have to wait while the City goes through the  machinations of permitting, funding, and rebuilding the pier.  It is estimated that the costs will run into the millions, all of which will not be realized with the funds the City is presently counting on through County, State, and Federal agencies.

That's where you come in:

The Anna Maria Isand Preservation Trust, Inc. (AMIPT) is a 501c3 charitable organization, enabling donations to be tax deductable, and even better, it will be MATCHED by the 1.5M grant from the Tourist Development Council of Manatee County.

Show your concern for this charming piece of history and spread the word to family and friends alike that you:  "LOVE The Historic Anna Maria City Pier!!!"

The City of Anna Maria placed two large banners on
The City Pier recently, showing the architect drawings for the restoration of the restaurant and bait shop.

Interestingly, this building has never been totally replaced so still has aspects that were put in place
when it was built in 1911. Two main beams, at the entrance of the restaurant will be preserved as part of the new structure.

I'm sure you will all agree that it looks a lot like the
familiar pier that we all love and have missed for the past year.

The City has put a completion date of December 2019 for the reopening. Be a part of this historic rebuild by making a tax-deductible donation on our page, which will also be DOUBLED by the Tourist Development Council of Manatee Countee!

Thank you Robert, it's an honor to be among the other worthy causes you have contributed to. It's been quiet since the winter visitors left, so your donation put a Mother's Day smile on my face.

A lot of work has taken place by our wonderful mayor
Dan Murphy and probably the best working commissioners we have ever seen. All the local, state and federal permits are in place to begin demolition in
June with a projected completion in December 2019.

I expect things will fire up on our page as people begin to see activity on the pier, which has "gone to the
birds" since Irma hit the Island in September. Again, thank you for your donation.
