Niki's Medical Doctor Dream

Donation protected
From  a very young age, I have always known that I want to help people and make a difference in people's lives. As I grew up I realised that I had a strong intrinsic passion for medicine and realised very early on that I wanted to become a medical doctor.

Being born and growing up in Zimbabwe I knew stragiht away that good qualifed, compassionate doctors were a neccessity here. I wanted to be that doctor. I saw poverty eating away at my family and fellow citizens. People died from curable diseases because of either a shortage of doctors or lack of money to go to health facilites. As a few future meidical doctor, I want to be part of the change in Zimbabwe and all around Africa.

I completed my high school in Zimbabwe with great grades and was accepted to Griffith University in Australia to study a bachelor of Biomedical Science. I attained really good grades throughout this degree and I was accepted into Griffith Honors college for high achieving students. I was also invited to be a member of an academic society called the  Golden Key Society. All my hard work is with the goal of becoming a medical doctor.

After the completion of my undergraduate degree I commenced the gruesome proccess of trying to get into medical school. I had to write the GAMSAT examintation which I passed. I then applied to various medical schools here in Australia and was invited for two interveiws. Out of these two interveiws, I was accepted into both universites. These universities are Griffith Univerity and University of Queensland. I was meant to commence at the beginning of this year but I did not manage to get the amount of money they were asking for. Being from Zimbabwe, the economic situtation does not allow me to access the amount of moey required for medical school. My parents are both retired and are unable to fund me. I searched for months for scholarships and funding but I was not successful.

However by some miracle Griffith University Medical School offered me another place for 2016. Their tuition fees are $50 000 a year and medical program is a four year program. Therefore the full fees will be $200000. I have no doubt that medicine is my calling. That is why I am asking for donations so that I can accomplish my dream to change the face of medicine in Zimbabwe and other poverty striken African nations.

Thank you so much for believing in my dreams. I appreciate every single one of you.
