Uterine Cancer - Our Surrogacy Journey

Donation protected

**UPDATE: So, the last month has been a whirlwind. I thought my update would look very differently. I’m heartbroken but oh so thankful for the past couple months and the events that have occurred. We did our one round of IVF in August with CNY in Syracuse New York. They were only able to retrieve two eggs and only one turned into an embryo. We were obviously heartbroken as this was our last shot. The embryo ended up showing some fragmentation and was deemed fair quality, so we ended up freezing it on day 3. We came home and ultimately decided to proceed with a FET the next cycle. However they discovered a polyp during my baseline ultrasound as well as abnormally thick lining. We were counseled to proceed with a hysteroscopy first. When I had that done we were heartbroken and completely blindsided to find out I had uterine cancer. I don’t remember much that week, once the doctor uttered the words “uterine cancer” everything else just kind of faded away and it felt like I was watching the conversation from above. It was truly like watching a tv show or what some would call an out of body experience. We were counseled by two doctors to proceed with a radical hysterectomy which I had done on October 17, 2019. My pathology report has come back and I am now cancer free, but now I am dealing with the emotional ramifications of surgical menopause at 31 and realizing that we will now need to hire a surrogate to give life to our embryo that saved my life. This will cost somewhere between 70-100k. I am so sad that this is the update that I am bringing to you guys, but also so thankful that we did the IVF and found the cancer on time. My oncologist told me that if we had waited even 6 more months it would have spread and I would end up having a very different experience. Now we just ask that you consider sharing our GoFundMe so we can start fundraise to try and give our last chance at parenthood a go. Hey there friends and family!

Ashley has been diagnosed with critically diminished ovarian reserve and our doctors have told us that it is now or never if we want to expand our family. We knew IVF would be something we would have to do eventually, but imagine our surprise being told that we are running out of time at only 31 years of age. IVF is our only option at having another baby and time is not on our side.

As you have probably seen when we went to our egg retrieval on August 23, we only got 2 eggs and only one turned into an embryo. We still have quite a bit of funds that we need to raise to help finish this cycle out. We are hoping to transfer our fair little embaby and pray it sticks soon. We weren't expecting this to go this poorly, and now we are just praying and trusting God with the process.
