Sidewalk Samaritans

We see the homeless everyday on the streets of New York City. But what we don’t see are their stories and emotional needs. What we see is surface level. Sidewalk Samaritans seeks to re-humanize the displaced through time spent getting to know them as individuals, rather than statistics. Our goal is to go beyond simply supplying short term solutions to a long term problem by providing emotional support, donations, the volunteering of time, compassion, and care.


According to the Coalition of the Homeless, the amount of displaced people has reached its highest levels in New York City since the Great Depression including over 20,000 children. The Coalition of the Homeless has also collected information from studies showing that the majority of the displaced population suffers from mental or physical health issues.


Sidewalk Samaritans is currently raising funds to purchase resources such as blankets, deodorant, toothpaste, brushes, and toothbrushes to distribute to the displaced while providing companionship.
