Seeking seed funding for Family Spirals™ – a global nonprofit to improve family relationships. https://familyspirals.org/  #FamilySpirals

All around us are people dealing with ‘dysfunctional families’ without any real support. In 2017 most family problems still have not been adequately researched; subsequently, there are few effective programs to help them.

Family Spirals™ is designed to change that – we investigate family problems, share our findings, and pilot programs to ensure that all family members are safe and sound with opportunities to lead a good life.

Molly
’s older sister tormented her for years. Everyone said ‘sibling rivalry’ was normal, so she learned to not talk about it. Now she’s away at college, but has night terrors and can’t focus on schoolwork.

Josh loves his wife and his mother, who hate each other, and Josh feels stuck in the middle. He’s afraid their animosity will damage his marriage and alienate him from his parents.

George is a mutt who was rescued from the streets. His family chains him up outside. He sees squirrels and birds go wherever they want, but he can’t go anywhere. If he barks, someone always smacks him.

Julia and her spouse have three kids, but when they aren’t in school or working, everyone is either online or on their smartphone. It seems like they’ve become strangers to each other.

Family Spirals™
addresses such problems with approaches that include community engagement, ethnography, public health outreach, education strategies, noncompetitive play, connecting with nature, and respectful communication. Our initial offerings include:

1.       Peer support groups for adults who experienced ongoing aggression from a sibling.

2.       Peer support groups for those dealing with in-law conflicts.

3.       Building community infrastructures to improve the lives of pets and other family members (addressing mistreatment that is legal by bringing support directly to families).

4.       Providing guidance for family meals, reinforced by joyful community activities such as dance.
