Team WorkSafe: 2017 Mission to Nepal
A team of Trekkers consisting of 12 people from Victoria Australia are heading to Shree Bal Mandir Orphanage and School in the Gorkha District of Nepal, in conjunction with Xtreme Adventures, as part of a Leadership Development Program.
The team has a variety of skilled professionals from WorkSafe Victoria, Victoria Police and Department of Education. This team is planning to utilise their collective skills to undertake a project to assist the School and Orphanage to upgrade it's current power and water supplies.
Funds raised will go to purchasing solar panels and electrical infrastructure, water tanks and associated works.
The aim is to provide a more reliable source of power to allow students greater access to computers which is part of the Schools Logged on Education Program.
Water tanks and upgrades to current plumbing works will assist in improving irrigation and hygiene amongst the students, by providing a sustainable water supply.
The project is to be undertaken during April 2017, however funds need to be available prior to our April 5 departure to allow these items to be purchased in-country when we arrive. This will ensure that our resources are put to good use whilst we are there and we achieve our objectives.
