Short Film- One Of The Lucky Ones

Donation protected
"You may be lucky to survive, but it takes more than luck to live with what comes after." My name is Lupita Rodriguez, and I, along with my collaborator Evan Gering are both seniors at California State University, Monterey Bay. We are currently working on our undergraduate thesis film "One of The Lucky Ones."

About the film:

In the modern world of mass shootings being commonplace, One of the Lucky Ones follows a high-school teacher who is a survivor of one of these tragic events.  As these events happen, the ones involved are under a microscope for a limited time by the media. However, we do not often see the lasting results.

“70% of adults in the U.S. have experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives. This equates to approximately 223.4 million people.” (PTSD United) Following a school shooting, mainly the kids are in the news; rarely do people hear about the teacher’s story. Teachers carry an enormous responsibility, to protect a room full of children and themselves. It was important for us to focus on an individual and see the toll of the lasting effects.

This film goes into the life of someone who has lived through an active shooter incident. The main character suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The teacher struggles with nightmares, triggers, and flashbacks in her daily life. Her marriage is strained. Her PTSD is affecting her life in all aspects.

We are raising money for the production of our film that will be shot in the Monterey Bay area in early February of 2019. All proceeds raised will be put only towards our expenses associated with the film:

-Equipment Rentals
-Shooting Locations
-Craft Services on set
-Other expendables

This is a student made film, however, we are dedicated to making this film at the highest quality possible. In order for that to happen, we need a good amount of financial support.

No donation is too small to help, and we appreciate in advance any support and donations that are given. All donations  of $100 or more will receive film credit in the final cut of the film which will be premiering in Spring of 2019.

Take a look at our Website and Facebook Page for updates and more information about the film!
