Shield strong but needs us

This is shield, the new member of the family. We found him last night... Well, he found us. We were driving and saw him limping in the middle of the street. He was using all the strength he had to get out the street. He was dirty and in huge pain. Seemed like he had just been hit by a car. We took him to the closest emergency vet. X-rays show he has a broken leg :'( they gave him meds to ease the pain. He feel asleep while they were putting the splint on. They asked us since he has no collar he's not microshiped do u want to sign your rights so they do what they need to do... We could not do it. He is fighting to stay strong and we gotta give him an opportunity. We took him to our vet this am to get a second opinion and all his shots up to date since it seems surgery is needed and the bill keeps growing. We are waiting to see what they say but since both bones are broken it will be an expensive surgery. We are trying to cover all the costs but we will need all the help.
