Sherri Rhoades VanDeBoe is a beloved elementary school teacher in Tampa, Florida. She has been teaching in Hillsborough County for 24 years and spent time at Riverhills Elementary, Lewis Elementary and Carrollwood Elementary.
This plea comes from seven women, all Hillsborough County teachers and dear friends who are raising money to support Sherri's family in meeting her medical costs and transportation costs to Shand's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida
On September 1, 2016, Sherri was enjoying a day with friends and suffered a fall that caused a traumatic brain injury and left her in a coma following invasive brain surgery. She now requires round-the-clock medical care. Her mother and father are her primary caregivers.
Sherri is a Tampa native. She attended Tampa Catholic High School and the University of South Florida. She was a cheerleader for both and coached local youth cheer teams for years.
Sherri comes from a family of public servants. Her mother and mother-in-law were both teachers. Her father is retired military and works for the VA Hospital. Her husband, brother-in-law and father-in-law are all firefighters.
Sherri shines a light everywhere she goes. She’s the first to help someone in need. She’s that teacher that all the students remember. She’s that friend who always makes you laugh. She’s the daughter who makes her parents proud. Her family needs tangible help to cover her medical costs and to transport her to Shand's Hospital in Gainesville so that she can be seen by an expert in the field.
Sherri's life has been one of service, Her injury was a freak backyard accident. We are asking for support to ensure she receives the medical care she deserves. Please give generously to someone who has spent a lifetime giving to others.
