Hey, my name is Sheridan Gorton and I’m a 23 year old professional golfer who plays at Murwillumbah Golf Club. I am in my third season of playing as a professional on the ALPG Tour however my dream is to play on the LPGA Tour in the near future.
To get to the LPGA Tour I am going via the China LPGA Tour first to gain more playing opportunities and experience playing at a high level on a weekly basis. However up until the Tour School early 2019, I will be playing the 2018 EFG Hong Kong Open (May), Thailand Masters (September) as well as pro am style events in Australia, Norfolk Island and New Zealand in between.
I have estimated the costs of the China LPGA tour school to be approx $7000. This includes flights, accommodation, entry fees, caddy fees, living costs for the week, etc. This tour qualifying school is only 54 holes and one week so thankfully I won’t be doing multiple trips for stages! Once I successfully make it onto the tour, I will be playing regularly which will lower my ranking and give me more opportunities to play not only in Asia, but the USA which then leads to the LPGA tour.
I purely rely on my own savings, working part time on a passionfruit farm, however I believe working another job outside of golf would take away precious time I could devote to improving my game.
To anyone who donates, I would love to give back whether it’s tips, a game of golf or regular updates about my journey. Any assistance to help me would be greatly appreciated.
