Sheri Beeson’s Recovery

Sheri, her husband, and her brother in law were coming home from Shreveport and an older gentleman 100 yards or so in front of them fell asleep at the wheel and hit both sides of the bridge. A young couple and Sheri all got out to check on him and call 911. The man was ok, but his truck was disabled to the point we couldn’t move it out of the right hand lane.
So, the young couples SUV was parked behind his truck a pretty good distance away with their flashers on and Sheri, husband, and brother in law set up cones from the road construction and Jerry was at the far end of the bridge with a flashlight flashing at oncoming traffic while they waited for police to show up.
12 minutes later, a drunk driver in a pickup truck never let off and never changed lanes and slammed into the couples SUV.
Long story short, a young lady lost her life! The young man was seriously injured, requiring emergency surgery early Saturday morning, but is recovering very well. The driver was arrested at the scene and has several felony charges against him.
The older gentleman, as far as I know was fine.
As for Sheri, when Jerry got to her, her right leg looked like a bomb went off beside her. She has lost most of the skin on that leg, as well as her knee is completely gone on that side.
Her left knee is shattered as well and she has some broken ribs.
Her pelvis is fracture in several places and she underwent emergency surgery early Saturday morning to stop the bleeding.
She lost “complete muscle groups” in her leg.
There are other things, but just wanted to cover the basics all at once. We’re trying to raise money to help cover medical bills as well as living expenses while the family spends the next few months at the hospital with Sheri as she undergoes multiple surgeries and recovers from this accident.
