Shelters, Paddocks for Horses

Circle F stands for Freedom - from neglect and abuse. The group has been rescuing, rehabilitating and finding new homes for horses in British Columbia for over 20 years. It is run by volunteers.

We  pay for rent, food,  vet care and other horse needs such as shelter and fencing to take care of the horses. In the past few years, our private donations have been dropping,  our fund raising events have not been as successful, and yet the need for our place is continuing.

We are getting to the point where we cannot bring in any more needy horses, because we cannot shelter them or provide space for them to run.  The paddock fences need to be repaired,  our outdoor shelter roof needs to be enlarged to protect them from the rain and sun.

Within the past year, 2 horses were brought in that have required more veterinary care than usually anticipated.  One of the mares was abandoned when her Owner died and no one realized the horse even existed. She was saved from the slaughter house and has required special care for her skin, hooves and additional food to bring her back to health. The other was rescued from a field and also has been given special care to fix cuts to her head and special conditioning  to help her with trust issues.

The horses also give back to the community. Teens at risk as well as special needs children have been coming to our barn in the past year, to participate in caring for the horses and learning how to interact with them through natural horsemanship. The program leaders for these groups have been really happy at how much the children and teens have enjoyed being around the horses, making connections with them and learning more about them.  We hope to continue and expand this aspect of community outreach in the future which is good for the horses and the youth.

The funds are needed right away, as we have horses that need to come in that we have not been able to accept and we are very low on other resources.

The funds will be used as follows;

$5,000.00 to pay for vet bill
$3,000.00 for paddock shelter expansion -  for materials only
$2,000.00 for repairing the fences - for materials only
$7,000 for repairing the paddock with more fence, footing, water and electrical  - for materials only
$2,000 for improving compost area for manure - for materials only

We would be very grateful for any amount that you could donate to us and we can reciprocate by thanking you on our website by name, by company.

Of course you are welcome to contact us and come and visit our barn and the horses to see for yourself the good work we are doing.
