Hello all!! My name is Kristi Alderson and I am Shayla's bestie and I am trying to raise funds to help my Sis during her most difficult journey... transplant surgery....
Her journey started May 2017 when she found out she had chronic kidney disease. Her health began to rapidly deteriorate and took a turn for the worse when she had a heart attack in January of 2018. Not even realizing that was her second heart attack!!! She was then diagnosed with cardiomyopathy which means her heart doesn't pump correctly. It also causes her to collect blood and causes blood clots (which led to her later being diagnosed with kidney disease).
She has had many test, lots of medication and nothing has stopped the deterioration. Which brings her to where she is today....TRANSPLANT SURGERY!!! She was told in May of this year in order for her to live a life of quality, she would need a heart transplant as well as a kidney!! THE WORST DAY EVER!!!! Shayla has to have both heart and kidney transplant surgery which will take place simultaneously and will require 9 hours for the medical teams to complete.
Moreover because of her religious beliefs, she has since relocated to Chicago for this major procedure to take place!! This meant her having to leave her son, her family, her friends, and closing her salon!! Also after her transplant surgery takes place, she will have to remain in Chicago for a year to be monitored.
Now if you know me you know she has been my right hand! When you see her 9 times out of 10 I was nearby! Seeing her go through this has changed my whole perspective about her. I'm usually the strong one and she lifts me up but this ordeal has left me heartbroken for her and her family!! She continues to be strong, she continues to laugh, she continues to be her fun, bubbly, crazy self throughout the procedures, medicine, tests, and near death experiences!
This fundraiser is URGENT!! With her having to close her salon she currently has no form of income to continue to help support herself or her son. Please help me help her and her family!! We want her focus to continue to be about restoring herself back to wholeness!! Not how she will survive after her surgery. The LESS stress she has, the more she can focus on her recovery to achieving a healthy and productive lifestyle and return back home to her family!
