Help Shawna See with eSight glasses

Hello! My name is Shawna Feist and I’m legally blind.  I was born premature at 26 weeks, which caused my retina to be under developed.  I have what is called Retina Oprothy of Prematurity (ROP).  I’ve struggled with legal blindness my whole life. School was very difficult not being able to read the board or any of my text books.  I was made fun of for my thick glasses, I had hardly no friends.  It was frustrating because I’m an intelligent person who was always talked down to. My self esteem was very low, I was depressed all the time. My mom did everything she could to help me, she eventually sent me to the Wisconsin State School for the Blind.  I had access to a wide verity of adaptive equipment.  The other students all had some form of blindness, I finally felt like I fit in!  My grades went from D’s to B’s, I was given the opportunity to show my full potential. I graduated second in my class and was given the chance to go to college.  The thought of college brought back all of those fears from mainstream school.  I would be teased and treated like an outcast again, I couldn’t bare the thought of going through that all over again.  My mom wouldn’t let me just give up, she gave me enough courage that I enrolled in nursing classes.  It was a challenge but I finished schooling and became a Nursing Assistant.  My 20/200 vision enables me from reading print, so I was limited in what I could do.  My dream was to be a Nurse like my grandma.  My mom, sister and aunt are in the nursing field, it’s in my blood.  I have a passion for caring for others.  Up until now I’ve been restricted in every aspect of my life.  I have big dreams but no way to reach them.  What I’m about to share with you is nothing less than a miricle for the legally blind community.  A company called eSight has developed a pair of electronic glasses that let the legally blind see!  My expectations were low, nothing else has worked for me. When I put the glasses on for the first time… words can’t explain what I saw.  I could see my husband and children clearly, I could see them smiling!  I looked out the window and I could see the trees, the individual leaves on the branches.  I saw the big puffy clouds, and a plane that flew by. I read a book, I watched tv, I read a street sign. I was overwhelmed with pure joy!  This is what the world looks like… what a miracle!  I’ve prayed my whole life for something to come along that would let me see, and here it is, eSight.  With these glasses I’d be able to do anything, the sky is the limit.  Please help me reach my dreams… if there’s even $1 you could donate please do.  Everything helps.  These glasses are $10,000, I need most of that before I can get them.  Be a part of a miricle today!  Thank you for taking the time to read my story, god bless!
