*** A letter written on Shasta’s behalf by, Ms. Karla Butler.....

Dearest Friend and Benefactor,

Please allow me to introduce my dear and talented friend, Shasta Bree.  Shasta started out as a musician in her home town of Bellingham, Washington.  I was fortunate enough to meet her at a birthday show at The Triple Door for beloved Austin TX songwriter, Ian Moore.  She had accompanied him that evening and it was clear to me that this vibrant and enigmatic musician was a talent in her own right.  I shall never forget seeing Shasta walk on stage with her black raven hair and a smile that could light up any room.  Her voice was so angelic and pure.  We became fast friends after the show when we realized that we lived in the same area of Seattle.  Since then, our friendship has blossomed and I've seen Shasta's creativity and musicianship flourish.  To me, there is Shasta my friend; who is like a sister to me, and Shasta the musician; who completely astounds me with her talent.  My proudest moment was seeing her perform at the Triple Door (2017) in support of Anna Coogan.  Shasta visualized and accomplished the whole concept of her act from start to finish; with a female choir, to her well-chosen stage set with guitarist, Andy Coe, and pedal steel guitarist, Dan Tyack.  It was absolutely breathtaking to watch. I don’t think there was one person in the audience that wasn’t bowled over by her performance.

Something that makes Shasta stand out is her generosity as a musician.   She is an absolutely gracious performer. Giving to those in her band in a way that elevates all in the room.  What rings true the most with seeing her live, is to hear the vulnerability in her songs. She knows how to genuinely touch people and let them into her world so beautifully.

I am writing to you now to ask you as a donor to help Shasta accomplish her dream of releasing her album and launching this incredible woman further toward her goals.  By showing your support, you will be helping this wonderful talent put something lovely into the world.  It makes me proud to endorse my friend and I know you will feel the same when you hear her music.

Thank you ever so much for taking the time to read this letter.

Best wishes,

Karla Butler.

Hello! Thank you for your help in reaching some of our goals on this record. Because of your contributions I was able to get the record completely mastered by a renowned engineer and hire an exceptional graphic design artist to complete the album art. Now I'm in the process of raising money to take it over the finish line. Until I can manufacture the vinyl records I will have an acetate made that handles about 20 listens & gives a real taste for what the record will sound like on vinyl. In the meantime I will be releasing a digital treasure for you, and manufacturing a small amount of cds. The biggest news is that I made the decision to move closer to my Grandad as he's 86 & I'd like to be near him if he should need more care in his last years here. I'm moving to Nashville, Tennessee. Seattle has been so good to me and I'll always be back, but I'm quite excited to grow and challenge myself in new areas. Thank you so much for all your support! Big hugs! Shasta Bree

Thank you so much for all the love & support. The last day of the campaign is today.

We accomplished so much!

I'm completely humbled by the entire experience.

For years now I've been developing these songs and last fall I felt strongly it was time to finally make this dream a reality. Mainly what made that possible is making music with an incredibly talented group of friends in my gigs around Seattle. I am beyond fortunate that they all felt inspired to contribute their talent to the record. I mentioned Dan Tyack earlier. He has been pivotal and most of the recording session was just he and I in a room having a very thoughtful conversation through music. The recording engineer, Eric Corson, captured that bond beautifully. I asked Phil Sottile to come in and play some blues & gospel licks with Dan to lay the foundation for Annie O'Neill, Katie Sweeney, and I to sing an old Spiritual that has always been dear to my heart. And we were very lucky to have Geoffrey Castle kickin' out the fiddle dazzle in perfect compliment to everyone on some songs. He's truly a master performer. Chris Meyer added the sweetest smooth harmony to one of my most precious and vulnerable tunes. Mister Sean Divine layed down the Blues Harp flavor on a tune. Andy Coe sprinkled harmonics on a song that just made a beautiful thing even better! And Miss Eve Berrington nailed the Saxophone solo for track 1 that makes my heart sing, not to mention she lended her pipes on some super cool spooky vocal harmonies throughout the record. It felt the perfect combination of souls elevating my songs to just the vision I'd had, and beyond!

There's more funds to raise but I feel really great about what we've accomplished together here. Because of your contributions, the final mixes are being mastered right now and I can get started on the cover art costs!

Exciting things ahead!

Big hugs, Shasta.
