Artist Residency in Canada

My name is Sharon Norwood  and I am an interdisciplinary artists based in Florida. I received my BFA from the University of South Florida  and will be pursuing my MFA at Florida State University  this Fall, but before that I hope to participate in a two week residency and need your help.

I have been accepted into the Luminous Bodies facilitated residency at Artscape  in Canada. Luminous Bodies  residency at Artscape Gibraltar Point is located on an island  just a short ferry ride away from downtown Toronto.

In Luminous Bodies, 15 resident artists from around the world, are invited to create artworks that shed new light on the human body, it's objective,  to challenge “normativity” and Otherness and to reinvent and re-present the body in the most inclusive and diverse ways.

My current body of work  is about dentity and perceived ideals of beauty. My work takes a look at curly hair and consists of ink drawings of my own hair which is then transferred onto the ceramic surface. I would like to use this residency to  produce a series of large scale ink drawings.

This is a great opportunity for me to not only make some new work, but also to meet and work with other artist who are exploring similar subject matter in their practice. In exchange for your help, I am providing some limited edition rewards from my series "Split Ends". 


My expenses for this residency includes: 

travel $500
