Sharon Wonder's final expenses

My name is Cherise for those of you who aren't familiar. My mom passed away suddenly on December 14, 2016 from a heart attack at the young age of 56. She was an amazing Gigi to my two small children and I couldn't have asked for a more selfless mom. Even though she faced her own financial hardships she donated to charities monthly, volunteered, went on mission trips, and helped anyone who was in need. As we scrambled to make her final arrangements we discovered she had cancelled her life insurance policy in September 2016 after losing her job. I obtained a lawyer because having never been involved with an estate I was in over my head, overwhelmed, and devastated. The lawyer, long story short, misinformed us and my dad (who had been divorced from my mom for 25 years) graciously offered to pay for her funeral and cremation with the understanding he would be reimbursed through her estate. We had a modest funeral and luncheon and chose a cost effective funeral home doing our best to honor my moms memory. We recently discovered the information the attorney provided us about reinburaement was not accurate. My family and I are still struggling daily with the hole she has left in our lives but the stress from her estate has left us little time to grieve. Her home has been for sale since December and has had two buyers fall through. We have been paying rent for her property and the mortgage monthly so as you can imagine the stress and expenses are overwhelming. I am my mothers daughter so it's very hard for me to admit defeat and ask for help but I am out of alternative options.
