Sharon Ackendorf's medical expenses

Donation protected
Sharon Ackendorf was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) with Isolated Deletion (5q) Chromosome Abnormality in September 2017. Please assist Sharon and her family with her medical expenses. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated by the Ackendorf family, and all those who know and love her.

Sharon is a native of Buffalo, New York, and has lived in Chautauqua County since 1982. She is a wife, mother of three grown sons, and has three grandchildren. She’s always had a calling to serve others, particularly through her passion of cooking. She’s worked in the food industry all her life including the Westinghouse Executive Dining Room in Buffalo, a local hospital, nursing home, Dunkirk Camp & Conference Center, Brocton Central School for nearly 30 years, and the Westfield Community Kitchen which serves those in need. As in her career, she continues distinguishing herself in caring for others through church hospitality and cooking.

A life-long Christian, for the past ten years Sharon has been an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Westfield, New York. One of her most passionate ministries has been prayer flags. On summer weekends, when Westfield’s Farmer’s and Artisan Market is in progress, Sharon and other parishioners invite people in Moore Park to write a prayer on a colorful fabric remnant. These prayers are later read aloud during church services. She’s been very moved by the people she’s met and hearing their stories. 2018 will be her 5th summer of participating with the prayer flags.

Anyone who knows Sharon, immediate calls to mind her warm smile and generous spirit. She is always ready to help others, but is reluctant to accept charity herself. However, knowing Sharon, she will be very touched and deeply thankful to everyone who can contribute to this fund. Thank you for your generosity in helping Sharon and the Ackendorf family. God bless you.
