Oregon Shakespeare Festival trip
Coast Redwood High School, Felton, California
We are a California public charter school of learners dedicated to creative, intellectual and ethical growth. We support our students to become caring, self-aware, discerning and articulate individuals. We believe a fulfilling life includes personal accomplishments, meaningful relationships, and service to society. We offer a balanced academic program that is developmentally appropriate and prepares students to become life-long learners. With the understanding that children learn best by doing, CRHS builds student independence by providing opportunities and challenges that develop initiative and discipline, preparing students for college and beyond.
Creative self-expression is part of all academic coursework. We integrate creative arts and academics with the belief that they are mutually reinforcing. This allows students to discover new gifts and talents and overcome self-perceived limitations.
All students may study acting, voice, dance, art, creative writing, and participate in the Charter Performing Arts productions and the SLV Performing Arts productions. Our Charter productions demonstrate and encourage the collaborative process. Here, individual effort and a willingness to contribute to the greater whole results in an inspiring and fulfilling experience. Performance builds self-confidence, and collaboration prepares students for effective working relationships well beyond their school years.
For our students to travel to Ashland Oregon to experience live Shakespearean theater, attend many of the (behind the scenes) theater workshops, and visit the University of Southern Oregon, would be a gift of a lifetime for many of our students who live in a mountain rural area in Santa Cruz County.
While our students are starting their fundraising for theater production tickets we are lining up with the Ashland Shakespeare Education office, our largest expense is our transportation from Felton, California to Ashland, Oregon. A gift of your donation would be applied to a charter bus company to transport 30 students and chaperones to Ashland for 4 days in the spring of 2019.
