Shade's Veterinary costs

Donation protected

Sunday Feb 10/2019 we woke up to our little fella Shade not feeling well.

Went to say good morning to all 4 of them and could not  find Shade.

He was hiding and his feet were covered in vomit and kitty litter.

He was unable to go to urinate and was vomiting.

This had happened previously around Christmas time . We rushed him to the vet and he was able to remove the urinary blockage and Shade spent Christmas at the veterinary clinic that time.

He almost died the first time and the veterinaria had a grim prognosis but his kidney values came back to normal.

We brought him home and he was fine for about a month and he reblocked again.

We immediately called his veterinarian and took him in as it was an emergency .. Toxins build up in the blood and kidney values were off the charts.

This time the veterinarian could not unblock him as when the catheter was removed he blocked again so he performed emergency perineal urethrostomy surgery.

A perineal urethrostomy (sometimes referred to as a 'PU') is a surgery performed on male cats who have a urinary blockage or severe trauma to the penis. Male cats can more easily develop a blockage of urine because of the anatomy of their urinary system. The urethra is a tubular structure that leads from the bladder to the outside of the body.

This is very expensive surgery but it will save his life.

Last time it cost $900.00 to unblock him but it did not work and this time the veterinary costs are even higher.

Shade is home again and the veterinary bill was over 2000.00 with other costs as well.

Shade was adopted from a shelter 9 years ago and we promised him a good life which we are attempting to give him.

The shelter was so happy when we adopted him because they have problems getting black cats adopted. Black cats make wonderful loving pets just like any other colored cat.

He is a very docile easy going guy and we are devasted that this has even happened. Too much stress for him this past summer with all the construction going on next door building a house. He was always afraid of the noise so we tried to protect him from it but I guess it did not work.

As you all know our little furry ones are so important to us.

Our family which are my 88 year old mother who loves him with all her heart and our other cats, Talia, Riley and Miss Kitty.

Miss Kitty is missing him the most even though he bites her all the time. She is also a rescued cat.

Money around here is tight and we would be incredibly grateful if you could spare a few dollars that would help pay for these veterinary costs and any and the follow-up care he needs.

We love him so much and my heart is breaking for him that he had to go through this at all. <3

This is a photo of Shade recovering from his surgery.

He hates that I have to poke him and give him fluids and force him to eatprescription food and is locked in own cage at night .

Hoping he feels better and life gets back to normal soon.

Poor fella.

Thank you in advance for your help and support.
