FUMS NEEDS SHADE!
First United Methodist School has seen thousands of students come through its elementary school program since the 1980’s, each of them leaving with a top-notch education and most importantly, a solid core of good, wholesome Christian values that stay with them for life.
Because we are a private school, we do not receive government funding, and it is often times up to the success of school fundraisers to get the big ticket items that the school needs.
That being said, our kids are HOT! We have a fantastic PE program that our children participate in multiple times per week, but the Florida sun and heat can not only be exhausting, it can also be dangerous. In certain months, the heat index can be over one hundred degrees and the UV rays that our children are exposed to are not at safe levels. We do not have a gymnasium, so most of our recess and PE activities take place on this outdoor court.
Unfortunately, shade structures are VERY expensive and we are asking for the financial help of our family and friends to help give our students the comfort and safety that a shade structure would provide. This is a project that will benefit our students this year, and in many years to come. #GFMtoSchool
