SGL Senior Overnight Trip

Eighth grade is a very exciting year as students choose their high school, prepare to graduate, and plan ahead to attend fun incentive activities like the prom and the senior overnight trip!
Over the past years, our school has been able to budget money to accomodate funding for the overnight trip. However, unfortunately, due to under enrollment this year, our budget is extremely tight. We have no money to spare to treat our students at the end of the year to the trip OR the prom.
Students who attend our school are all enrolled in the free lunch program. Parents struggle to afford basics for their children, and putting the financial burden on them would result in having to cancel our incentive activities. Kids work hard all year in order to be able to attend our overnight trip, which, for most kids, is their first time outside of a city.
The last two years, students have been able to attend a trip to Camp Getaway in Kent, Connecticut, where they are able to experience the outdoors, completely unwired. They enjoy each other's company without interruption of cell phones, and get to experience outdoor activities that most of them would otherwise never have a chance to participate in.
The funds we collect here will be able to sponsor our students to attend the trip, and will help to fund part of our middle school prom.
These activities help to keep kids behaviorally on track, because they work towards an invite to attend, and they genuinely look forward to invitation day. Our school mascot visits classrooms to drop off gifts and invitations for those who have worked hard and earned their spot on the bus to attend our trip. These funds will cover: transportation, lodging, meals, and a full day's worth of activities for 50 of our top students, as well as contribute towards a DJ and a venue for our eighth grade prom.
This is my second year teaching these students, and they are some of the most deserving kids that I've taught in my career. They want to learn, they want to do well, and they want to do good in the world. Please help us show them that hard work DOES pay off, and help reward these amazing young leaders!
