Sewn Gifts for Heart Warriors

As many of you know, our daughter was born with a rare congential heart defect. This means that we have become "frequent flyers" to Boston Children's Hospital (BCH), with some stays of almost a month long. That might seem long, but some families are there for months and months during treatment.
During this time, I was shocked to find out that Boston Children's Hospital does not get very many donated items to its cardiac floor, unlike our home hospital. This made me really sad. With the holidays quickly approaching, I began to think about all of those families that will be in the hospital this Christmas. Todd and I have spent several holidays in the hospital and we know from experience that it can be so worrisome, depressing, and lonely.
I have decided that I want to do something special for all those cardiac families in Boston who will spend their holiday in the hospital. I have begun crafting and sewing bibs, leggings, hats, teething ring toys, baby booties, pacifier clips, etc. I want to continue to sew (hopefully with help from friends!) as many gifts as I can for the kids there between now and January 1st to help bring some joy to their holiday. The problem is, I don't have anymore funds to donate and there are still so many kids that I haven't crafted a gift for. So, I am reaching out to you my family, friends...heck, maybe even strangers, to ask if you could find it in your heart to donate to this cause. You donation will go to purchasing fabric, elastic, snaps, wooden rings, thread, etc. and then the postage to send it up to BCH. It would be so nice to be able to bring some small happiness to these families during their difficult time. If I raise more than $1000, I will continue to craft gifts for as long as the funds remain!
A donation of even $5 is enough to buy fabric for one pair of leggings! Thank you so much for your help in making these childrens' Christmases a little brighter. Much love,
