Service Dog for Landon!

Donation protected

Thank you for taking the time to hear our story! Landon is a 7 year old sweet boy full of life, love and LOTS of energy! He also happens to fall on the autism spectrum where he also is non-verbal, developmentally delayed and attention defecit hyperactive disorder. Landon is the oldest of 3 and also has a little sister whose 6 and brother whose 4. To say our hands are full is an understatement, but our hearts are even fuller.
We are always looking for ways to improve Landon's life and help him excell to his fullest potential. Along with that comes some hardships. Landon has some very physical meltdowns where a service dog/emotional support animal could absolutely provide him with some comfort and protection for himself and others. Landon also likes to run and has a history of ellopement where police have needed to intervene. When he becomes over whealmed with his surroundings he can become upset and has no real concept of danger. Which is a place where a service dog will come in handy. On our quest for an outlet we came across; Ry-Con Briard service dogs ( http://www.ry-con.com/) out of Apex, NC. This non profit organization trains their dogs to specifically work with individuals on the spectrum! How amazing!!
Mark, the owner of Ry-Con recieved our service dog from Arizona and started training her in September. After several phone calls and conversations with Mark about Landon's behaviors, needs, strengths and deficits it was determined a female Briard would fit Landon's needs best. Each dog from Mark's designated breeders goes through extensive tests to make sure they are capable of taking on the hard work that a service dog must endure. We were then placed with our angel and named her Piper! After what seemed like forever we finally got to wrap our arms around her in October! This visit changed our lives. We knew the importance having Piper in our lives would have, but to see Piper and Landon interact first hand was emotional and an absolute sign that our prayers would be answered!
The more I think about how Piper would not only impact Landon but our whole family and every experience we have, the more emotional I become. Every mother wants the world for her child. I've had to reconstruct every plan I made when I first held him in my arms to when he was diagnosed with autism at 2. Piper is part of that reconstructed plan. This dog would change all of our lives and give Landon such a true companion, the kind of relationship only a boy can have with his dog. So please consider making a donation to help us with our fundraising efforts! To bring Piper home we have had to collect $13,500 and now after just six months of donations and fundraisers we have just over $2,000 to raise! We plan on several more visits to see Piper and will be able to bring her home this summer! Thank you for your time and donation to help us bring the new member of our family home!
